ALERT

Due to the overwhelming surge in COVID-19 cases and the strain it has placed on health care capacity in the communities we serve, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare has activated crisis standards of care statewide. We are open and available to see patients, but you may experience delays at our ERs, hospitals, and clinics. We appreciate your patience. Access more info on COVID testing, vaccination, visitor policy, hospitalization data, and FAQs.

Student Services

Find Your Future

The team at St. Luke's student services is honored to be your resource and advocate as you pursue learning experiences in health care. Whether you are a student or an instructor, our goal is to help create and support memorable student experiences and opportunities, and build competence, confidence and a spirit of collaboration among learners.

In one year, St. Luke’s student services helps facilitate around 3,000 rotations for roughly 2,000 individual students from 50+ unique disciplines resulting in over 364,000 educational hours! To meet student needs for our growing community and the future workforce, we also manage partnerships with about 175 schools from coast to coast, and host students in nearly every department and clinic across our health system. We look forward to the opportunity to work with you!

The St. Luke's Learning Experience

  • St. Luke

    Top 15 Health System

We are proud to have been ranked as a top health system by IBM Watson Health for eight consecutive years! The award recognizes us for offering better outcomes, higher patient satisfaction and lower costs.

  • Significant Community Impact

Every student will engage with and care for community members in support of St. Luke's mission to improve the health of people in the communities we serve.

  • Academic Preparation

Learning is a life-long endeavor, and we'll help you develop the critical-thinking skills you'll need to keep learning and growing in the healthcare field throughout your career.

  • Teamwork and Collaboration

Exceptional patient care requires the talents of a supportive, multidisciplinary team. At St. Luke's, you'll refine your own skills and explore how they complement the roles of other medical professionals.

Essential Information

Due to COVID precautions, our student services team is currently working remotely; thank you for understanding.

  • COVID Safety

      • Medical students, NP, PA, CNM and CRNA may participate in COVID patient care.
      • Due to current visitor policies, instructor site visits are not permitted; instructors should conduct check-in meetings with preceptors/students through virtual meetings, if possible.
      • Students are expected to self-monitor for COVID symptoms
  • Personal Protective Equipment

      • Universal masking is in effect at all St. Luke's facilities (clinical and non-clinical).
      • Protective eyewear (face shield or tight-fitting goggles) is required in all clinical settings.
      • We encourage schools to provide and fit test an N95 mask for each student; this will help ensure students may participate in as many non-COVID patient care opportunities as possible.
  • Vaccine Considerations

      • Effective September 1st, 2021, we will require students, observers, and clinical instructors to have received, at a minimum, their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
      • For those rare instances when someone may not be able to get vaccinated due to a medical condition or strongly held religious belief, St. Luke’s defers to the academic institution to provide documentation attesting that a student has a valid medical exemption or religious accommodation enabling them to forego the vaccination requirement.
      • In accordance with CDC guidelines, we no longer require that students receive an annual TB test.
  • Facility-Specific Requirements

    • The following facilities have additional requirements tied to student experiences:

      • St. Luke's Canyon View Behavioral Health Services
      • St. Luke's Elmore LTC
      • St. Luke's SRU in Boise

These facilities welcome students if the following criteria are met:

      • Fingerprint background check
      • COVID testing immediately prior to first shift and periodically throughout rotation
